Facebook and Privacy Problem

Hello everyone! First of all thank you for giving your precious time to read my blog. So today I want to share my views on the unethical issues which are being followed in business. I guess in this era of social media everyone uses social networking sites and have their accounts made on different apps and one of them is Facebook.

But there are many questions related to this which I want to ask. Is Facebook a social media platform or a data company? If it's a data company, to what standards of data privacy and security should it be held? There are no such laws or norms that have been established to dictate how it should act;by definition,it is operating in an unethical manner because "black" and "white" haven't clearly mentioned.

Facebook has now become a fundamental human need like drinking water. But if you do use Facebook, you have control over how your data is used, how it's seen, and which third party apps have access to that information. In exchange for using the platform, for free, you're providing Facebook with some data that can expose many information that fits in.

Our data has now become a gold mine for corporations. When corporations have to choose between protecting user data and maximizing profits, they'll choose profits every time(they have to-it's their duty towards shareholders). Amazon got permission to obtain our contact details from our Facebook friends. Yahoo got to view our friends posts, and Microsoft got our lists of friends. And finally-the big one- Facebook gave Netflix and Spotify the ability to read our private messages and further Netflix said that it didn't access the messages.

Facebook needs to be regulated by government. Customers alone are not powerful but the government has the ability to break up Facebook's monopoly power, impose strict rules that would better protect user privacy and punish Facebook leadership for violating user's trust.

In the case of Cambridge-Analytica, the company was able to access data of around 87 million people all around the world and 5.67 million people in India. It was revealed that the company had used this data for political advertising purposes. It has been described as a watershed moment in the public. Trust of millions of people all around the world was broken.

Moreover Zukerberg said that "Facebook have control over everything" but it is not true. Zukerberg misrepresent the truth as he allows his employees to read out most intimate communications. Our data is nowhere safe. Facebook's growth has now become virtually inescapable. We need a Facebook account to use Instagram, Pub G or even Tinder. The lack of options also traps Facebook users who rely on social media just to stay in touch with friends or family who live far.

This was my opinion towards the unethical practices of Facebook towards millions of people as the data is not safe.I hope the company should take corrective steps toward this issue. This is my perspective towards this situation. I believe that this information will help you further. Let me know below in the comment section about your opinion. Thank you!!
